Premier League team of the week – Gameweek 12

Gameweek 12 of the Premier League was full of surprises.  Brighton dropped points to Sheffield, Everton beat Palace and Chelsea had their best performance of the season in their draw against Manchester City.

Take a look at SoccerMag’s best 11 performers from Gameweek 12 of the Premier League.

We used buildlineup.com to put our team onto paper, but our selections are explained below.

Goalkeeper:
Alisson – Liverpool
Liverpool’s Number one showed his class once again against Brentford.  Alisson made some crucial saves including a sensational stop against Mbeumo one on one. The Brazilian was composed with the ball at his feet and in complete control of his box throughout the 90 minutes.

Defenders:
Oleksandr Zinchenko – Arsenal
The first of two Ukranian fullbacks to make our team this week, Zinchenko looked back to his best in Arsenal’s dominant win over Burnley. He was immense with the ball and scored the Gunners third to seal the win.

Victor Lindelof – Manchester United
Lindelof has faced harsh criticism during his time at United but has been one of their steady performers this season, being used in his natural position in central defense and as a fullback.  The Swedish international was solid against Luton and even managed to score the goal that gave the Red Devils the win.

William Saliba – Arsenal
William Saliba is one of the best central defenders in the world and has continued to improve this season.  The Frenchman has only been dribbled past once this season and showed his quality by eliminating all danger against Burnley.  Saliba also contributed on the opposite end of the pitch by scoring Arsenal’s second of the game

Vitaliy Mykolenko – Everton
This is the second week in a row Everton’s Vitaliy Mykolenko has made our squad.  Mykolenko has improved massively this season and is developing into a key part of Sean Dyche’s side.  The Ukranian scored the opening goal for the Toffees and put in an immense shift overall against Crystal Palace.

Midfielders:
James Ward-Prowse – West Ham United
Former Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is one of the signings of the season.  The midfielder has created nine assists already for the Hammers and provided two in their win over Nottingham Forest.

Pablo Sarabia – Wolves
The impact player of the weekend was undoubtedly Pablo Sarabia.  The Spaniard came on with less than 10 minutes to play and completely changed the outcome of the game.  Sarabia scored a sensational equalizer in the 90th minute before setting up Lemina for the winner a couple minutes later.

Forwards:
Raheem Sterling – Chelsea
Raheem Sterling is back.  The winger has found the form that saw him become one of the most feared attackers in the Premier League.  Sterling caused havoc against Manchester City and did not give Kyle Walker a minute to breathe.   Raheem scored Chelsea’s second against his former club City.

Mohammed Salah – Liverpool
The Egyptian King continues to provide for the Reds.  Mo Salah scored two goals against Brentford and has now taken his goal tally in the Premier League to 200.  Salah is one of the greatest wingers the competition has ever seen.

Dominic Solanke – Bournemouth
Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has elevated his game this season.  The former Liverpool man has begun to consistently add goals to his performances and his brace against Newcastle United showed his ability.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City
The inevitability of Erling Haaland is astonishing.  It does not matter how the Norwegian performs, he will score.  Haaland remains top scorer in the League after his brace against Chelsea.
