A player’s true worth is best evaluated by their on-field performance rather than transfer fees which can be subject to inflation and market trends, and often skyrocket without reflecting the actual talent or potential of a player. The wage structure and length of contract offered to players often tend to have a greater financial impact on a club than the initial transfer fee.
