Stuart Baxter says its important for Bafana Bafana to finish their campaign with a flourish ahead of their dead rubber clash against Senegal on Tuesday.
The South African national team will take on Teranga Lions of Senegal in their final Group D qualifier at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar.
The Bafana Bafana mentor wants his side to showcase their talent and finish their campaign on a high note, despite failing to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.
“It is important to finish our campaign with a flourish. We are playing one of the biggest teams on the continent and this is a great stage for players to show their mettle,” Baxter said ahead of their clash against the Lions of Teranga.
“Let’s make a big push to achieve that.”
Baxter believes the solution to the problem was for the team to be more consistent and more clinical in the final third, adding that it was important to bring through as many youngsters as possible.
“But such progression is at times hampered by failure to get results on the field of play on consistent basis; because winning games is what qualifies you for tournaments,” he added.
“There is an urgent need though to quicken this process.”
Bafana Bafana against Senegal kicks off at 21:30.
