Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed that in-form Royal AM forward Victor Letsoalo is suspended for their upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on Thursday.
South Africa were put through their paces at the Dobsonville Stadium for a training session early on Tuesday morning with their second training session taking place later that day as they continue to prepare for their two remaining qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.
The South African national team are set to play host to Zimbabwe when the two teams square off at the FNB Stadium on Thursday evening in their second last group stage qualifier.
Broos was forced to make changes in his squad after they were hit with injuries with Sfiso Hlanti and Mothobi Mvala already on the sidelines before they confirmed that Jesse Donn came in to replace Yusuf Maart, who picked up a knee injury.
To added to Broos’ list of players out of contention, Letsoalo will also not be available for selection as he serves a match suspension.
“We have to bear in mind that we don’t have many days to train before the game, so the tempo has to be maintained so that we do not tire the players bearing in mind that we have a very big fixture against Zimbabwe on Thursday,” Broos told Safa.
“Victor Letsoalo is suspended so we cannot play him against the neighbours and Jesse Donn arrived late on Monday night, so we are ready.”
Bafana Bafana against Zimbabwe kicks off at 9pm on Thursday.
