Maritzburg United striker Andrea Fileccia wants to play for Bafana Bafana once he qualifies for South African citizenship at the end of the 2018-19 season.
The 26-year-old came to South Africa during the 2014-15 campaign when he joined Free State Stars under then coach Tom Saintfiet. He spent two seasons there before making the move to Maritzburg in 2016.

If he is cleared to play for Bafana, Fileccia is confident he can deliver goals for the national team.
‘I’m a striker and my job is to score goals and I think if selected, I can contribute goals for Bafana Bafana‚’ Fileccia told TimesLIVE.
The Maritzburg striker will qualify for citizenship at the end of the current campaign after spending five years in the country and he insists he would welcome a Bafana call-up with open arms.
‘Also for the fact that I’ve been playing in the PSL for so long now and that I know the players well and the playing culture‚ so for me if I get an opportunity to play for Bafana, I won’t have to do a lot of adjusting,’ he added.

The Belgian striker managed to bag nine goals and two assists from 26 appearances in all competitions for the Team of Choice last season and played a crucial role in helping them achieve their highest-ever finish in the Absa Premiership while finishing as runners-up in the Nedbank Cup.
‘Maybe one day [when he qualifies for SA citizenship] whoever is the national team coach can recognise me. I’m never going to say no to that.
‘I’m a versatile player. I can play as a winger both on the left and on the right and I can play as a No 10.
‘I can play in different positions. Maybe one day if I’m called up, I promise I will be able to give my best,’ Fileccia concluded.
