Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali suffered a slight injury during training ahead of their must-win Fifa World Cup qualifier against Senegal on Friday.
The South African national team will face the Lions of Teranga in back-to-back fixtures in their bid to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Bafana Bafana mentor Stuart Baxter confirmed that the 27-year-old withdrew from training after twisting his ankle.
“Yes Jali left training in what I believe is a twisted ankle, however, I will wait for a confirmation from our doctors to see what is the injury and to what extent,” Baxter told the media at Bafana’s training session.
Baxter believes the mood in the camp is a lot calmer after the arrival of several players who were recently on domestic duty with their respective clubs.
“Things are a lot calmer. We worked on some of our defensive tactics today with all the players, and tonight we have a team meeting with all the players, which is great for our confidence,” he added.
Bafana will now welcome Senegal to the Peter Mokaba Stadium when the two sides go head-to-head in their must-win Fifa World Cup qualifier on Friday, with kick-off set for 19:00.
