Bafana Bafana right back Kegan Johannes says they have covered all bases during their preparations for their opening Cosafa Cup encounter with Mozambique on Wednesday evening.
The 21-year-old has been named captain for this Bafana squad and will lead the team when they welcome their neighbours to the Princess Magogo Stadium in the quarter-finals.
Bafana Bafana’s opening-round fixture against Mozambique will be a repeat of last year’s quarter-finals as South Africa handed Mozambique a 3-0 defeat en route to the final where they beat Senegal on penalties.
However, Johannes is well aware that their next opponents will come into the match hoping to avenge last year’s defeat but the captain will do everything in his power to prevent them from doing that.
“We have prepared well against Mozambique and the boys are really looking forward to the clash,” Johannes told Safa.
“We have also analysed their play and we know areas in which to capitalise on as well as their strengths. We go there with an open mind as well, as anything can happen in football. But our focus still remains the same, and that is we want to win this fixture.”
