Bafana Bafana midfielder Hlompho Kekana has been excused from the camp after a tragic accident claimed the life of his mother-in-law on Monday.
The 32-year-old was immediately released from the training camp to travel back to Gauteng and attend to his family matters.
Safa spokesperson Dominic Chimhavi confirmed that a car accident claimed the life of his mother-in-law as she was on her way to Hammanskraal.
Kekana’s two-year-old child was also present in the car when it happened, but the condition of the other passengers is not known at this stage.
“We will be monitoring to see if he is in good frame of mind to come back into camp,” Chimhavi said on Tuesday.
“He left the camp last night and we will be monitoring the situation.”
Stuart Baxter is reluctant to call up a replacement for Kekana as he further assesses his frame of mind ahead of their must-win clash against Senegal on Friday.
