Bafana Bafana winger Lebohang Maboe says he is looking forward to participating in the Cosafa Cup Plate final, following their 2-0 victory over Botswana in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
The South African national team advanced into the final of the competition after goals from Riyaad Norodien and Judas Moseamedi got on the scoresheet to hand Stuart Baxter’s side the win.
The 22-year-old winger put in an impressive performance in his second appearance for the national team, which saw him walk away with the Man of the Match award.
Despite suffering a 1-0 defeat against Tanzania in the quarter-finals, the Maritzburg United winger admits that he was pleased with his side’s victory over the Zebras.
“It is a very great win for us, knowing that we are coming from a 1-0 loss against Tanzania,” Maboe said after the match.
Maboe says he is confident Bafana Bafana will produce the same performance in the Plate final as they did in the semi-final to claim the Plate trophy.
“You can expect the same performance that we displayed tonight, that I can assure you. It’s another win for us and we must keep working and I’m sure we’ll get the win,” he added.
Bafana Bafana will now take on Namibia in the Cosafa Cup Plate final when the two sides meet at the Moruleng Stadium on Friday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 17:00.
