Zwane stars for Bafana in six-goal thriller

Themba Zwane rolled back the years in Bafana Bafana’s scintillating 3-3 draw against Algeria in Algiers.

Yassine Benzia opened the scoring in the 22nd minute giving Algeria an early lead.  Themba Zwane bagged two goals in just over 10 minutes, with the first assisted by Mihlali Mayambela and the second a superb solo-goal.  Bafana went into halftime leading 2-1.

Algeria started the second half strong and equalized in the 53rd minute through Yacine Brahimi.  FC Stellenbosch striker Iqraam Rayners restored Bafana’s lead in the 66th minute with a clever touch from Elias Mokwana’s shot.

Benzia completed his double with a sensational overhead kick to get Algeria back on level terms.  Overall it was a satisfying performance from Bafana against one of the strongest teams on the continent.
