Erik Ten-Hag’s army shines in Qatar

Manchester United manager Erik Ten-Hag has been surrounded by controversy since his takeover in the offseason. Despite the constant headlines surrounding the club and the manager, it is the United players who have begun to shift the narrative back home.

Bruno Fernandes has now scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists, pulling Portugal up by the bootstraps despite the controversy surrounding his home club and now former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. He is joined by fullback Diogo Dalot in progressing to the knockout stages, where they will look to continue Portugal’s fight for the trophy.

Marcus Rashford is another player that has seen their form takeoff after a sensational display against Wales sees him join Kylian Mbappe as top goal scorer in the competition. Rashford is joined by teammates Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw who have been an integral part in England’s resolute defense with Maguire, in particular, showing his poor club form may very well be behind him.

Midfielders Fred and Casemeiro have looked sharp, athletic and composed in the Brazilian engine room providing a stable platform for their dynamic attack while also giving the backline enough protection helping the likes of veteran center-back Thiago Silva.

Regardless of what happens in this world cup, the world will be watching these performances and wondering when the dust settles if this is all a show or the rise of Erik Ten-Hags’s army.
