Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly could potentially face Chelsea in the final of the 2021 Fifa Club World Cup after the Egyptian giants and English side were kept on separate side of the draw on Monday evening.
The draw for the 2021 edition of the competition took place on Monday with Mosimane taking his side to the competition for the second successive season.
Pitso will be looking to go one better after missing out to Bayern Munich in last season’s semi-finals he will be hoping to make the final having been kept away from the European champions in this edition with Chelsea on the other side of the draw.
The world football governing body also confirmed the tournament is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates this is after Japan pulled out as hosts after deciding the risk was too high with the ongoing coronavirus concerns and considering they hosted the Olympic games a few months prior.
The opening game will take place on 3 February 2022, with the tournament concluding on 12 February.
Mosimane’s side will join the tournament in the second round and will take on Mexican giants C.F. Monterrey.
Should the CAF Champions League winners overcome Monterrey, they will lock horns with UEFA Champions League holders.
