Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Patrick Mabedi felt his side should have done better in their 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.
Goals by Jeremy Brockie and substitute Themba Zwane saw Masandawana clinch the first-ever edition of the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.

Chiefs legend Mabedi congratulated Pitso Mosimane’s side, in addition to revealing the importance of losing matches prior to the start of the 2018-19 Absa Premiership season.
‘Congratulations to Sundowns. They gave us a good game. We should have done better.
‘We had chances in the first half. We didn’t compete. This is our first competitive match but it’s not an excuse.
‘It’s important to lose now and do well as time goes,’ he added.

The Malawian also said that the club is happy with the current crop of players, revealing that they are looking to bring in another left back to compete with Letlhogonolo Mirwa and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya.
‘We are happy with the squad we have. We are looking at bringing in a left back… We are still in pre-season. We have got to see where we are.

‘Last year is history. We learnt. We took positives. We had a good team. We were just unfortunate not to score goals. Now we have a way of getting things right this season,’ he concluded.
