Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has defended his players after they were held to a 1-1 by Future FC at Al Ahly We Al Salam Stadium in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday evening.
The Red Eagles were held to their first draw in the Egyptian Premier League this campaign after they were forced to share the spoils with Future FC after Mohamed Sherif’s early goal was cancelled out by a goal from Karim Nedved.
The draw sees Mosimane’s side remain at the top of the league standings with 19 points from seven matches, while Future are placed 12th with eight points after seven matches.
“Sherif is the one who scored today, the striker we’re talking about scored the goal,” Mosimane told the media.
“We fought for a win tonight, Al Ahly players have a very busy schedule, nine players were with the Egyptian national team in the Arab Cup before playing against Raja Casablanca a couple of days after.
“We are only humans, we have a strong team and we tried to achieve another victory tonight, but we were up against a well-organized team that used counter-attacks.
“A lot of my players will be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, and directly after, we will have to compete in the Club World Cup.”
