Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies dominated the inaugural Hollywoodbets Super League awards ceremony held in Sandton over the weekend following their treble-winning season.
Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala was named as the Coach of the Season after guiding his side to winning the Cosafa Women’s Champions League, Caf Women’s Champions League and the Hollywoodbets Super League.
“I am very excited to have won this award. This accolade belongs to the team because we fought together last season and now we are reaping the rewards. I want to say a big congratulations to those who were nominated,” Tshabalala told his club’s official website.
“Overall, we are not resting on our laurels and we are already looking ahead to next season. Like I keep saying, there is so much to achieve in the game of football and, as a team, we are gunning for more.”
Meanwhile, Bambanani Mbane was named in the Squad of the Tournament as well as Player of the Season after she formed part of the Sundowns defence that kept 21 clean sheets while only conceding 15 goals across all competitions.
Sundowns Ladies forward Andisiwe Mgcoyi bagged the joint top- scorer award with Nompumelelo Nyandeni (JVW FC) after the pair finished the season with 27 goals apiece.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were also named the Team of the Year after they claimed 24 wins out of 26 games and drawing just one, while also finishing the campaign having scored the highest number of goals with 87, conceding just 14 to finish with a goal difference of +73, which was the best in the league.
