The agent of Mamelodi Sundowns duo Thabo Nthethe and Asavela Mbekile has confirmed that the players will leave the club at the end of their current contracts.
The 33-year-old Nthethe had been an integral part of the defence at Chloorkop, playing a key part in the club’s success which includes their league and Caf Champions League success in 2016. This season, however, the former Bloemfontein Celtic man has fallen down the pecking order, with Pitso Mosimane preferring Ricardo Nascimeto, Wayne Arendse, Bangaly Soumahoro and Motjeka Madisha.
Former Maroka Swallows man Mbekile has failed to make a real impact at the Brazilians. Often used as a utility man, the 31-year-old has failed to cement a spot in the starting eleven since moving to the club in 2014.
With both players seemingly not part of Mosimane’s plans, their agent, Tim Sukazi, has revealed that Nthethe and Mbekile will leave the club at the end of the season.
‘Sundowns had an option [to renew Nthethe’s contract]. The date for the option of his contract has passed and Sundowns haven’t said anything. He is not playing and he will leave. Both of them will leave,” Sukazi told IOL.
