Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly tabled a bid for SuperSport United midfielder Sipho Mbule, with the player favouring a move to Naturena despite reported interest from Mamelodi Sundows.
According to the Sowetan, Mbule has set his heart on a move to the Glamour Boys with SuperSport looking to cash in this season after the player’s form dipped, prompting suggestions his heart was no longer with Matsatsantsa.
Sundowns are known admirers of the midfielder but with a number of players already at Chloorkop in that position it makes sense for the 23-year-old to favour a move to Chiefs.
“People like to spread lies. Mbule isn’t close to joining Sundowns. In fact, the boy favours a Chiefs move more than going to Sundowns. I expect the matter to be put to bed in the next two weeks,’’ a source close to the deal told the Sowetan.
The publication also got a hold of Mbule’s agent, Mike Makaab, who revealed that only one team enquired about his client, adding preliminary talks had already started with that certain club.
While not wanting to revealed the club in question, Makaab finally slipped up last Friday as he told Durban-based commercial radio station Gagasi FM that Amakhosi had tabled a bid for Mbule.
The midfielder shot to prominence last season when he netted four goals and picked up six assists from 25 league games. He has, however, struggled this season playing just nine of SuperSport’s 17 DStv Premiership games providing only two goals and a single assist.
