Khama Billiat is set to follow in the footsteps of Leonardo Castro with the Zimbabwean forward reportedly set to join Kaizer Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speculation has been running wild regarding the future of the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder, after he reportedly snubbed a number of new offers from the former Caf Champions League winners.

With a number of international teams vying for his services, a move abroad was thought to be on the horizon, but the latest reports suggest that the Naturena-based outfit have prioritised Billiat as their marquee signing for the new season.

Chiefs have signalled their intent to reclaim the glory days, having reportedly toppled Sundowns’ offer of a R2-million signing-on fee in addition to a whopping reported salary of over R220,000, according to Independent Media.

Billiat has reportedly put pen to paper with the Amakhosi and will link up with his new teammates on Monday when Chiefs return for pre-season training.

Despite not officially confirming the news, moments after news of Billiat’s move to Chiefs reached the public, Chiefs took to their official Twitter account to post the arrival of three unnamed players.

This comes after Chiefs parted ways with a number of first-team players like Keagan Buchanan and veteran defender Tsepo Masilela.

Billiat parts ways with Pitso Mosimane’s side, having won almost every individual and team accolade possible during his five-year stint with the club.
