Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso says he is relishing the chance to begin pre-season ahead of the 2017-18 Absa Premiership season.
The 28-year-old made 18 appearances during the 2016-17 campaign while helping Amakhosi to a fourth place finish in the Absa Premiership.
The Bafana Bafana defender scored his first goal for the Soweto giants last season when he netted the equaliser during their 1-1 draw against Ajax Cape Town in February.
Cardoso insists he is relishing the chance to start pre-season after having a three-and-a-half week break from football, as Amakhosi resumed their first team training.
“I am looking forward to pre-season,” Cardoso told his club’s official website.
“I was just around Johannesburg. It was to relax a bit. I had a good rest.”
The Amakhosi defender went on to stress the importance of pre-season and how it sets you up for the season ahead.
“What you put in at training during pre-season is what you get out for the rest of the season,” he added.
The Glamour Boys will be participating in two pre-season friendly tournaments, the Maize Cup on 15 July, followed by the Carling Black Label Champion Cup on 29 July.
