Bloemfontein Celtic defender Lorenzo Gordinho is looking to upset high-flyers Kaizer Chiefs when the two sides meet in a PSL encounter on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old joined Phunya Sele Sele in a loan-deal which saw midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela join Chiefs on a permanent basis. Despite Gordinho’s love for Chiefs, he revealed that Celtic are buoyed for the clash against Steve Komphela’s men.
“I’m excited and the guys are,” he told kickoff.
“Well we gonna start working for the weekend, preparing for a game I’m looking forward to.
“I am looking forward to the Chiefs game… coming up against my former teammates, I don’t know how do you say it? Coming up against teammates, friends. That’s gonna be a big game.
“I definitely want a win, I won’t accept a loss,” headed.
Gordinho acknowledged the magnitude of the clash but insisted that he isn’t viewing the game as an opportunity to prove the Amakhosi technical team wrong about their decision to send him out on loan.
“Personally, I don’t look at it like that. And in terms of the team, it’s an important game because we need the points.
“We’ve been so bad in terms of results, so we need to turn that around and it’s a good opportunity for that you know. So it will be a good game, good competition and we’ll do our best you know.
The former youth international also commented on Chiefs’ good run of form.
“It’s a good thing to see the team winning games, I think it’s good for the club as a whole.
“As for us we just have to go there with the will to fight the entire game and work for the results as we know it’s not gonna be easy.
“Chiefs is on form and we need to get back to our good run of results. So there is no better game to spur you on to keep that momentum than to play against Chiefs.
“We gonna use the occasion and the game of this weekend to boost our performances and try to get a good result,” he concluded.
The two sides clash at the FNB Stadium on Saturday with kickoff set for 20:15.
