Chippa United has announced their decision to suspend head coach Gavin Hunt following a string of poor results in the DStv Premiership.
Under the tutelage of Hunt, the Chilli Boys are languishing in 14th position in the DStv Premiership with seven points from 10 games, having won one games, drawn four and conceded five defeats.
In the absence of Hunt, Kurt Lentjies will take over the coaching duties as caretaker and he’ll be assisted by Siyabulela Gwambi.
The Chilli Boys confirmed in an official statement that Hunt has been suspended whilst they investigate the matter following their poor start to the campaign.
“Following the club having endured its worst start to the league after 10 (ten) matches and only 1 (one) victory, the club has placed head coach Gavin Hunt on precautionary suspension, whilst it investigates the matter according to its internal processes,” the club statement said.
“In the absence of the head coach, Kurt Lentjies will take up a caretaker position and shall be assisted by Siyabulela Gwambi. Lentjies has been a stalwart for the club and following his retirement from playing ensured that he attained his coaching qualifications. His intricate knowledge of the team, players and culture of the club should ensure that the club should be in good stead during this period.
“We trust that this process will be the beginning of a turnaround to the season and bring hope again to the stakeholders and fans of the Pride of the Eastern Cape.”
