Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele believes his side’s 0-0 draw against SuperSport United in an indication of their strides of growth this season in the Absa Premiership.
Pirates failed to keep the pressure on PSL table-toppers Mamelodi Sundowns after playing to a goalless draw against the former CAF Confederations Cup finalists.
Jele, however, said that despite the result not being an ideal one, it’s still a positive one when you contextualise Pirates’ recent form guide against SuperSport.
“The result against SuperSport was not ideal but it wasn’t a bad one either.
‘If you look at the past two seasons they have been able to edge us, however, on Wednesday we broke the dominance they had over us.
“Considering where we were last season as compared to where we are now and how far we have come a long way.
“Against SuperSport we played with a confidence we have not shown in recent seasons especially against a team like SuperSport.
“We want to finish the season on a high for ourselves.
“One of the ambitions for us is to finish in the highest possible position which will enable us to qualify for one of the CAF tournaments,” he concluded.
