Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho insists that Amakhosi will continue to fight on for a place in next season’s Caf competitions.
The Glamour Boys currently sits at fifth in the Absa Premiership standings with 47 points and have won 12 out of 27 matches played so far this season, trailing log leaders Bidvest Wits by 10 points.
Meanwhile, Gordinho has been in fine form for Amakhosi this campaign, having scored four goals from 27 appearances in all competitions.
The 23-year-old admits that if Chiefs don’t walk away with any honours this season, they will continue to battle for a place in next season’s continental competitions.
‘Without the trophies, we are still one of the biggest teams in the country, so we can’t just let ourselves slip and fall [in the remaining three games],’ Gordinho told KickOff.com.
‘We have to keep going and keep the performances for the fans, they still want to see good football and we’re going to have to give them the brand [of football] that they’ve been enjoying throughout the season.
‘It doesn’t mean that we’re not going to win the [league] title that we can just give up. We are still fighting for a place to get into one of the African tournaments and that’s what we’re gunning for at the moment.’
Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back after claiming two draws in their last to match when they take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 18:00.
