Hunt rues Wits missed chances

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt believes his side deserved to walk away with maximum points against Maritzburg United on Tuesday.

The Clever Boys extended their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership to nine games after claiming a 2-1 victory over the Team of Choice at the Bidvest Stadium.

Hunts praised his side for fighting back to claim the win over Maritzburg, despite their goal-scoring woes this season.

“Have you seen our goal-scoring record this year? It’s not very good, so we have to score from set-pieces, because how else are we going to score?” Hunt told the media.

“Our season’s been going like that all year [wasted chances]. Cole Alexander should have scored to make it 2-0, [James] Keene should have made it 3-0.

“They [Maritzburg] never had a chance at goal the whole game, and then they scored from one chance, and you think, ‘Here we go again…’

“But we battled on and I thought we got our just rewards.”

Bidvest Wits will now travel to Athlone Stadium when they take on Ajax Cape Town in their Absa Premiership clash on 11 April, with kick-off set for 20:00.
