Taariq Fielies insists he isn’t bitter about being snubbed by former team Ajax Cape Town as he looks to reach even greater heights with Cape Town City in the 2018-19 season.
The former Milano United defender was snapped up by the Citizens before the 2017-18 campaign and cemented his spot in Benni McCarthy’s team with his seasoned performances in the heart of their defence alongside former captain Robyn Johannes.

Despite establishing himself in the PSL for the Citizens with his no-nonsense approach, Fielies could have turned out for Ajax, having spent a few years in their development ranks.
The lanky defender made one appearance for the Urban Warriors, coming on as a second-half substitute for Matthew Booth in a PSL clash against Maritzburg United on 7 December 2012.

‘I will always be grateful for Ajax, they helped my development and gave me a professional contract,’ he told TFG SoccerClub.
‘Although things didn’t work out for me as I planned, I had to leave, because I wasn’t in the coach’s plans and then, yeah, like they say “the rest is history”,’ he concluded.
