Bidvest Wits forward Gift Motupa believes scoring more goals will give him the confidence to take his game to the next level.
Motupa netted his seventh goal of the campaign as the Clever Boys came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against 10-man Sundowns at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.
Gavin Hunt’s side remain top of the league standings with 38 points from 21 games, while Sundowns trail the log leaders by two points, with two games in hand.
‘It was a tough game. We wanted to win the game but unfortunately we drew, but its ok. We just have to win our next match so that we stay top of the league,’ Motupa told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘It was tough, it was not easy. But a draw is ok. I think we deserved more because we created lot of chances unfortunately we didn’t take them but we’ll work on them in the training session.
‘It’s important for me to score. It’s going to build my confidence to go to another level as a player and I’m very happy for the opportunity that Wits has given me.’
Meanwhile, the former Orlando Pirates forward revealed that Hlompho Kekana admitted that Wits should have been awarded a penalty in the game.
‘It was a penalty. I was tripped. I even asked Hlompho [Kekana] and he said it is a penalty, but I said its OK,’ he added.
Bidvest Wits will now welcome Cape Town City to the Bidvest Stadium when they meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday with kick off set for 8:15pm.
