Orlando Pirates coach, Kjell Jonevret, has given his initial impressions of the club’s new signings, revealing that he had never seen Christian Obiozor prior to the Nigerian’s arrival at the club.
The Buccaneer fanbase voted for a squad with not a single new signing included in the starting eleven, and Jonevret, who revealed his surprise at how the squad shaped up for the Soweto Derby, admits that he is excited about the game.
“Maybe this Black Label line-up can surprise me and play a fantastic game, but in my head we’ll play a different team next season,” he said at a press conference.
“I’m pretty sure when the league starts that this Black Label Eleven will not the be the line-up that starts the new season.”
The Swedish mentor shared his thoughts on the new arrivals at the Mayfair-based outfit.
“I haven’t seen much of Obiozor, the new striker. I have never seem him, only a few clips. I don’t know. The future will tell.
“But at least I have seen Wayne Sandilands play, so I know he’s a good keeper.
“I like the new guy who has signed for us. I liked him when we played [Bloemfontein] Celtic. I think he’s a player the club can have a lot of use for,” he concluded.
Chiefs and Pirates face off at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
