English striker James Keene confirmed that he will leave Bidvest Wits after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Platinum Stars in their final Absa Premiership game of the season.
After winning their maiden Absa Premiership title last campaign, Gavin Hunt’s side were a shadow of themselves during the 2017-18 campaign where they finished 12th in the league standings.
The 32-year-old striker managed to rack up 48 appearances in all competitions while scoring 17 goals in the process since joining the Students in January 2016 from Swedish second tier side Halmstads BK.
Keene posted a message on Twitter, bidding farewell to the Clever Boys: “To all my teammates who have become true friends, who have been like family to me and shown me so much love since the day I arrived in the dressing room, it’s been amazing.
“I’ve had a fantastic time with this group, with so many great memories and trophies, and I’m going to miss so many people at the club.
“I feel blessed to have played for such a great football club. I want to wish everybody at Bidvest Wits all the best for the future, and I’m looking forward to my next challenge!”
