Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana hailed the impact of Teko Modise at the club and admitted that Masandawana were saddened by his departure.
Modise parted ways with Sundowns, following almost seven years at the club and subsequently joined Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City outfit. Kekana, who played alongside the former Orlando Pirates man in the engine room for Pitso Mosimane’s side, revealed that Modise’s impact at the club will be missed.
“Eish, the General maan, eish, obviously I’m not happy to lose Teko as a teammate, but we really couldn’t do anything about it,” he told soccerladuma.
“We are all sad to see him go, but he made up his mind and we just have to accept the fact that he felt he needed to move on.
“People will never understand the impact he had on the team and I’m sure we all learned a lot from his experience. He was always there for everyone, especially the young players, guiding and encouraging them.
“I would like to thank him for sharing his experience and professionalism with us. We will all miss his presence and the life lessons we always shared as teammates,” he concluded.
