Mamelodi Sundowns left back Lyle Lakay has warned his side not to write SuperSport United out of the Absa Premiership title race.
The Brazilians are set to welcome SuperSport to Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the second installment of the Tshwane derby on Wednesday evening.
Matsatsantsa currently occupy sixth place in the league standings with 40 points, four points behind Sundowns and 10 points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates.
The last time the two sides locked horns, Sundowns came out on top when they claimed a 2-1 victory over Matsatsantsa Lucas Moripe Stadium on 2 December 2018.
‘The Tshwane Derby is never boring and there’s always something to play for,’ according to former SuperSport United player Lakay.
‘If you listened to their technical team carefully leading up to this match, you can sense that they believe they are still in the title race and that makes them a highly motivated bunch.
‘If you ask me, they are currently doing very well in my opinion especially if you look at where they were halfway through the season and where they are right now. They have actually gone quietly about their business, almost unnoticed.’
Mamelodi Sundowns against SuperSport United kicks off at 7:30pm.
