Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane insists he won’t stand in the way of midfielder George Lebese if he decides to leave Chloorkop.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Tshwane rivals SuperSport United after struggling to cement his place in Mosimane’s team since moving from Kaizer Chiefs.
Lebese was a notable absentee from the Masandawana pre-season camp as they are spending this week at the Ingwenyama Conference and Sports Resort in Nelspruit.
The Sundowns mentor has since confirmed that Lebese wants to leave the reigning Absa Premiership champions.
‘I think he wants to leave because his position is the position of Mshishi [Themba Zwane] and sometimes we use [Gaston] Sirino in that space and sometimes Vila [Sibusiso Vilakazi] and we can even put Thapelo [Morena]. It’s very difficult for him to be honest,’ Mosimane said.
‘If he has a team, we won’t stand in his way. He has to play football.’
Over the course of his career, Lebese has found the back of the net 27 times and assisted a further 23 from 200 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
