Maritzburg United winger Lebohang Maboe says he will consider leaving the Team of Choice for a move abroad.
The 23-year-old played a crucial role in helping the Team of Choice reach the Nedbank Cup final, while also helping them secure a club record fourth place finish in the Absa Premiership.
He also was named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player at the annual PSL awards ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre following his impressive display during the 2017-18 campaign.
Maboe has recently been linked with a move to PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, but the Maritzburg attacker would prefer to move abroad.
“I want to go overseas, I don’t have that [playing for a big team] in my mind right now. Me making it overseas, that’s what I’m thinking,” Maboe told KickOff.com.
“I still got a contract with Maritzburg United and I still have to honour that, and I will still be with the team if I don’t get something overseas.
“Overseas is where I want to go from here, now I don’t have anything concrete.”
The former Mbombela United winger credits his teammates following their impressive campaign, while reserving special praise for Siphesihle Ndlovu and Fortune Makaringe.
“Most importantly I feel like it was hard work. We had to put in a lot of hard work throughout the season. And us being united, I feel that also worked for us,” he added.
“Our relationship goes outside the footballing field. We hang around quite a lot so we understand one another. Even before sessions with us we are meddling against each other.
“That also helps to improve the team ethics. It goes beyond the field I will say.”
Maboe managed to rack up 35 appearances in all competitions while scoring five goals and assisting a further seven during the 201-18 campaign.
