Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lebohang Maboe admitted that he anticipates tough encounter against former club Maritzburg United who are fighting for their lives, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
Maboe, who joined Downs from the team of Choice at the beginning of the season, has had a great start to life at Chloorkop having cemented his spot as one of Pitso Mosimane’s first names on the team sheet.
The 24-year-old will face his old side in a crunch Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening with both teams desperate for points, but for very different reasons.
The Brazilians are looking to capitalise on their games in hand on the rest of the title chasers by picking up all three points on Wednesday to continue to climb the league table.
Maritzburg, on the other hand, prop up the bottom of the standings and will need to start picking up points if they are going to avoid relegation.
Speaking ahead of the clash at a media open day at Chloorkop, Maboe admitted that he expects his former team to come out all guns blazing.
‘Sundowns is a very big team and going into the Sundowns game it was the game of our lives and we all had a point to prove,’ said Maboe on his experience of playing against Downs while at the Team of Choice.
‘I’m expecting a very difficult game, knowing that they are at the bottom of the league, so they will come out guns blazing tomorrow.’
Sundowns and Maritzburg will do battle at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening, with kick off set for 7:30 pm.
