SuperSport United winger Aubrey Modiba insists his side are not thinking about getting relegated as they aim to finish in the top eight this season.
Matsatsantsa currently occupy 13th place in the Absa Premiership standings with 21 points after 18 games so far this season.
The 22-year-old says his side are not worried about getting relegated, but foley focused on making it into the top eight in the standings.
“We are not thinking of that [relegation]. Teams are winning games and we have to make sure we win games as well. If you win, you can go to number nine,” Modiba told KickOff.com.
“That has been pushing us to work even hard. We win another game after that then we can get into the top eight. That as well is giving us confidence, to keep trying to get results.”
Modiba admits that Matsatsantsa tend to panic when they concede goals which leads to them dropping points, but the SuperSport winger insists his side will return to winning ways.
“In a game we score one goal and as soon as the opponent equalises we tend to panic that they might score another and then we lose the game. That has been our downfall,” he added.
“Also we need to convert our chances. We need to score two or three goals to make it hard for opponents to come back. But we score first and then draw or end up losing.
“Our concentration levels are not good. But we keep on going because no one will take us out of this situation but ourselves. We will keep grinding. We have good players and we will get back to winning ways.”
SuperSport United are set to welcome AmaZulu to the Lucas Moripe Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 19:30.
