Ben Motshwari says Orlando Pirates’ Telkom Knockout victory against Chippa United will prove vital in their bid to defeat arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby.
Supersub Vincent Pule sealed the Buccaneers’ passage to the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals and former Wits and current Pirates teammate Motshwari has stressed the importance of the victory.

‘It was a difficult game under these circumstances. We had to dig deep to get the result we wanted. Playing this game keeps us going so that we don’t have off days and have the momentum,’ he said after the Chippa game.
‘So it’s good for us to keep going. So now we have to focus on the next game.
‘It wasn’t there [focus]. It’s difficult for us sitting at home without playing any game. So for us this game was important for the next game coming up.
‘We have to keep going and focus on the next match and grind for the three points,’ he concluded.
Motshwari picked up the Man of the Match accolade for his performance against Chippa and will be hoping for more of the same when they do duty against Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
