Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca are reportedly interested in the services of Kaizer Chiefs forward Leonardo Castro.
Castro’s future at Naturena has been uncertain since the arrival of Zambian forward Lazarous Kambole and Serbian striker Samir Nurković.
With the two foreign forwards and Ghanaian midfielder James Koeti now on their books, Chiefs will need to clear out some of the foreigners already signed.
Castro’s name was removed from the voting list of players for the starting lineup for the Carling Black Label Cup later this month, leaving the door open for his departure.
With the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker’s contract set to expire in June next year, it is now believed that 2017 CAF Champions League winners Wydad have contacted Castro’s agent on a possible move to north Africa.
‘There has been contact. But at this stage nothing formal,’ a source told KickOff.com.
‘Wydad are currently searching for a striker and Castro has been identified as one of the candidates,’ he added.
With interest in the Colombian growing and Chiefs needing to free up some space for their newly signed foreigners, it seems only a matter of time until Castro leaves Naturena.
