Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed his belief that Cape Town City mentor Benni McCarthy will one day become the Bafana Bafana boss.
Mosimane’s Sundowns side are set to face Cape Town City on Wednesday at Loftus in a game that could have huge ramifications in the title race as it will be one of Masandawana’s catch up games.
Heading into the game Sundowns sit in third two points off the top with the two games in hand, while City are in fourth a further three points of Downs with just the single game in hand.
Mosimane, who was the Bafana assistant coach between 2006 and 2010 before making the step up to head coach for the next two years, lavished praise on McCarthy in the build up to the clash where he admitted that he sees Benni as the next national team coach.
‘Cape Town City are a good team,’ Mosimane told Sowetan Live. ‘Benni shows that he wants it, he puts his skin on it.
‘Benni wants it and I see him as a future Bafana coach.’
‘The game against City is going to be hard. We are all having the same challenge. It’s a race and we should not be emotional about it.
‘I’t’s like a race of Liverpool and Man City… it goes like this and goes the other way,’ he added.
‘You’ve got to keep calm, you’ve got to keep cool. It’s a long way to go. So, I don’t think it’s a two-way race, City is popping up.
‘So probably we can cancel each other along the way.’
