Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admits that striker Jeremy Brockie and winger George Lebese were signed for next season.
The 53-year-old coach lured Lebese to the club from Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the campaign while bolstering their attacking options with Brockie, who joined the club from SuperSport United during the January transfer window.
Lebese has scored two goals in 14 appearances in all competitions while Brockie has scored five goals and created three assists from 31 appearances so far this campaign.
Mosimane explained that he bought duo Lebese and Brockie for the 2018-19 season and refrained from using them every match as he didn’t want to break the chemistry in the team.
“You don’t break the chemistry of the team. Lebese and Brockie are for next season. We signed them for next season,” Mosimane told the media.
“Zwane, Vila and Percy know each other; they know where the other is on the field. So, you don’t [want to] disturb it. Sirino is there, they gel. Why break it?
“Brockie and Lebese are for next season they [will] play next season – you shouldn’t stress about signing players and having pressure to play them now, and try to put them in,” he concluded.
Having already secured the Absa Premiership title with a game to spare, Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Caf Champions when they take on defending champions Wydad Casablanca in their opening group stage encounter on Saturday, with kick-off set for 21:00.
