Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has stressed the importance of garnering victory against Maritzburg United tonight if they are to retain the Absa Premiership title.
Masandawana find themselves two points behind table-toppers bidets Wits, with two matches left to be played in the campaign, and Mosimane believes anything less than maximum points against the Team of choice will see them relinquish their title.
‘It’s a must win. If we don’t win then we can forget it,’ he said at a press conference ahead of the game.
‘When you don’t win you hope other people don’t win, then we go again to the last match. But we have to win. I don’t mind what other people do, but we must win.
‘If we want to win the league, we need to win against Maritzburg,’ he added.
The former Bafana Bafana mentor also reserved special praise for Fadlu Davids for his influence at Maritzburg.
‘He has done well, winning three games in a row and the coach of the month award.
‘They played well against Wits. This must tell you it’s not a team you can roll over.
‘But I think at this point in time no team is easy. Look at how Highlands fought against Chippa. There is no easy team now, the results will surprise you.
‘Baroka came here and scored two goals, [Platinum] Stars came here and scored two goals, Free State Stars scored three goals against Wits. We must watch out, but I think we will end [the season] well,’ he concluded.
