Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic has urged his side to continue their fighting spirit when they welcome TS Galaxy to the FNB Stadium in their next DStv Premiership clash on Tuesday evening.
The Serbia striker netted his first goal of the campaign during their 3-1 victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium over the weekend.
Nurkovic is delighted at adding his name to the scoresheet after a knee injury had him miss 14 games this campaign.
“First of all, we have to be realistic,” Nurkovic told the Kaizer Chiefs’ media department.
“I have been through some challenging times after surgery, but I was working hard on my physique and on my mental state.
“I think things are coming back in the right place once again and I just want to do my best in every game and be back on my best to help the team in the best possible way.
“I’m also really happy to be back on the scoresheet and we just have to continue with this fighting spirit. With this kind of performance, everything will be fine for us.
“Obviously, we have to respect every opponent. Today everyone is playing football and football is getting better and better each year, everything is on a higher level. Like I said, we have to respect every opponent, but we have to look at ourselves and our performance.
“If we perform like we did against Chippa, then everything will be fine. We just have to continue with the same fighting spirit, respect everybody and give the best possible play on the field.
“We are in a good position. We have had a lot of injuries to players who could have helped the team and the coaching staff had tough work to do, but they managed it well and now when things get back in place with players coming back from injury, I think things will be much better for Chiefs,” noted the Serbian.
