Cape Town City winger Ayanda Patosi will be hoping that coach Benni McCarthy’s winning mentality can rub off on the team during the 2017-18 season.
The 24-year-old has joined Cape Town-based outfit from Belgium outfit Sporting Lokeren, where he spent six years making 167 appearances in all competitions, while netting 24 goals and assisting a further 39 in the process.
Patosi looked really sharp during last week’s 1-0 pre-season friendly loss against Premiership champions Bidvest Wits in Stellenbosch.
The former ASD Cape Town winger will be hoping that McCarthy’s hunger for success can rub off on the team.
“Working with coach Benni is a great feeling and I can’t wait for the season to start,” Patosi told KickOff.com.
“I mean, the coach achieved what every player dreams of, that’s of course a Champions League medal. He was a great player and is hungry for success.
“Hopefully, this can rub off on us as players and as a team because this will bode well for the club in the future, you know. Working with a someone like coach Benni motivates me even more.”
The Bafana Bafana winger says his objective is to help City play attractive football, while trying to cement his place in the starting line-up.
“We have great players and that motivates me even further. It’s always a privilege to play for your country, but I’m not thinking much about that. I’m a 100 percent focused on City now,” he added.
“Playing in front of family will also motivate me. Our squad is a year more experienced. We’ll try and play an attacking and exciting brand under our coach McCarthy.”
