Orlando Pirates have confirmed that winger Thembinkosi Lorch will play no part in the remainder of the Absa Premiership season, in addition to confirming the return of goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane from injury.
The Buccaneers released a statement on their official website, highlighting the fact that Lorch will not feature in the Absa Premiership campaign again this season, as he set to undergo surgery on his injured shoulder.
‘Winger Thembinkosi Lorch will miss the remaining games of the season, as he is due to undergo surgery,’ the statement revealed.
‘Lorch, who sustained a shoulder injury in the goalless draw against Highlands Park last month, will go under the knife to repair a joint capsule and ligaments injury.’ the statement read.
Pirates will be boosted by the return of Mpontshane, who last featured for the Soweto giants in the 1-0 loss against Bidvest Wits. The goalkeeper is set to resume training at Mayfair with his colleagues, but will not be available for selection when Pirates face Ajax tonight at the Orlando Stadium.
‘The Bucs medical team has cleared goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane to resume training with the rest of the team after recovering from his injury.
‘However, the 31-year old looks set to miss out the Absa Premiership clash against Ajax Cape Town tonight,’ the statement concluded.
