Baroka will be looking to humble log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they lock horns at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.
When Sundowns and Bakgaga last met in the Absa Premiership Sundowns showed their dominance after thrashing Bakgaga 4-0 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 5 December 2017.
The Brazilians stretched their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership to seven games after claiming a 2-0 victory over Chippa United on Wednesday, courtesy of goals in either half by attacking duo Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.
The wins sees Sundowns remained at the summit of the league standings with 46 points after registering 14 wins and four draws from 24 games.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane said: “What are we going to do with good football at this point in time?
“It’s five games left and you wanna play good football?
“Play good football at the beginning of the season and show off. Now it’s tough, it’s not only tough for us but for everybody. You must take the three points and go home.”
Meanwhile, Bakgaga extended their unbeaten run to five games after playing out to a goalless draw with Platinum Stars during midweek action of the PSL.
The draw saw Baroka remain in seventh place on the league standings with 33 points from 25 games, a point behind sixth-placed Cape Town City.
Baroka coach MacDonald Makhubedu said: “Yes it’s going to be intense. But for us it’s like any other game.
“We just told our boys to go play, like they played last time. We are relaxed. We are going to play the game the way we are used to playing. We are not even having any pressure.”
The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
