Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has revealed the reason behind midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni’s absence from the squad.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man joined the Soweto giants in July after completing a move from Chippa United.
The 28-year-old, however, has failed to establish himself as a regular in the Pirates set-up, having made only three appearances since his arrival at the team.
When quizzed about the absence of Sangweni, Sredojevic suggested that if Sangweni improves, he will play.
“He’s one of the midfielders competing for a place in central midfield,” he told Goal.
“The moment he satisfies the standards and the criteria that we are demanding, then he will be in contention.
“As things stand, it’s up to him to fight for his place,” he added.
Pirates will look to hit the ground running after the international break as they face Bloemfontein Celtic on 4 April with kickoff set for 19:30.
