The Buccaneers fell short of claiming the Absa Premiership title during the 2017-18 campaign after finishing second best to Pitso Mosimane’s Mamelodi Sundowns side.
Sangweni believes the Buccaneers can end their trophy drought during the upcoming campaign following their impressive performance last season.
‘We are expecting a lot of things from Pirates this season to make us happy and win trophies,’ Sangweni told KickOff.com.

‘It can’t still be us who last lifted a trophy. They should start to open their own page.
‘What they showed us last season, we want to see more of that, so that we can win something and not finish number two.
‘There must be things to show at the end.’
The Buccaneers have been busy during the transfer window, having already strengthened their squad by securing the services of Brilliant Khuzwayo, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Paseko Mako, Linda Mntambo, Asavela Mbekile, Vincent Pule, Meshack Maphangule, Abel Mabaso and Ben Motshwari.
