Cape Town City have confirmed that they have extended the contracts of trio, Teko Modise, Sage Stephens and Ebrahim Seedat.

The Citizens failed to advanace to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup based on the away goals rule after playing to a 2-2 draw against Costa do Sol, however they were handed great news as chairman John Comitis confirmed that a number of players’ contracts had been renenewed.

“We had a couple of renewals that we had to do,” Comitis told IOL.

“Teko Modise’s contract has been renewed, Sage Stephens’ contract has also been renewed and so is Seedat.

“So, that is just the part of the business. We had options and we decided to take them,” he added.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates veteran midfielder has formed an integral part of Benni Mccarthy’s side this season, making 22 appearances in all competitions.

Former AmaZulu shot-stopper Stephens has been a breathe of fresh air for City, seamlessly replacing Shu-aib Walters. Of his 20 appearances across all competitions, Stephens has kept 12 clean sheets – the most recent being in the 1-0 victory against Pirates in the Nedbank Cup.

Seedat, who is currently recoveringfrom a knock to his ribs has featured 19 times in all competitions.

“We had to do those types of contracts. The guys have stepped up and got counted.

“It is important for us to respect that. If I can keep Teko there forever, I will,” he concluded.
