Newly promoted side Stellenbosch FC have announced the signing of Mexican midfielder Diego Franco from the University of Pretoria.
The 26-year-old joined AmaTuks at the start of the 2018-19 campaign along with his fellow countryman and forward Lugiani Gallardo.
Both North Americans were linked with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018, however, a move did not materialise at that time.
However, Franco has since joined Stellies after impressing while plying his trade for National First Division (NFD) for University of Pretoria.
The Mexican-born attacker has also attracted interest from Bidvest Wits recently but Stellies have won the race for his signature.
Franco has previously plied his trade in Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain and South Africa for the likes of CD Cruz Azul Hidalgo, Guadalupe FC, Salamanca CF UDS and AmaTuks.
The reigning NFD champions confirmed the capture of Franco on the club’s official Twitter page.
