Mamelodi Sundowns have been handed a boost as Andile Jali has recovered from his injury ahead of their Tshwane derby against SuperSport United on Sunday.
The 28-year-old was recently forced off the field after sustaining a hamstring injury during Sundowns goalless draw with Orlando Pirates before the Fifa international break.
However, the international break came at the right time for the Bafana Bafana midfielder as it afforded him time to recover from his respective injury.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane admits that losing Jali in a match of that calibre was a huge loss to the team, but insists that Tiyani Mabunda did well to replace him for the remainder of the match.
‘That was a big one for us. We lost the guy who always gave us box-to-box in our last four games. You could even see in the first two minutes, where he was when he got injured.
‘We lost a very good football player. But Tiyani Mabunda did exceptionally well when he came in,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.
However, the Brazilians medical staff have now confirmed that Jali has since recovered from his hamstring injury and is currently continuing treatment.
‘Andile Jali has recovered from the hamstring that saw him fail to finish Sundowns’ goalless draw with Orlando Pirates. He is continuing with treatment,’ Sundowns said on their official website.
Mamelodi Sundowns will now turn their attention to the Absa Premiership when they play SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday with kick off set for 3:30pm.
