Last season, the Golden Boot race came down to the final match, with Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa narrowly defeating Iqraam Rayners (then with Stellenbosch) by just one goal to claim the honor with 16 goals.
While most PSL season-end awards are determined by a panel of judges, the Golden Boot, officially known as the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot, is awarded based solely on the player’s total goals scored.
Here’s a break down of all players in contention for the Golden Boot this season.
Lucas Ribeiro | Mamelodi Sundowns | 9 goals
Ribeiro is arguably Sundowns’ most vital attacking player, with a standout performance this season. He’s scored nine goals and most recently netted two in a Man of the Match performance against Orlando Pirates.
