According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns have submitted a bid for Highlands Park duo Mothobi Mvala and Peter Shalulile as the Lions of the North consider the sale of the club.
Mvala and Shalulile are the standout assets of the club and have again shined in Highlands’ second season back in the topflight.
Shalulile, in particular, has shone as he currently tops the Golden Boot race, alongside Bradley Grobler and Ghabadinho Mhango, with 15 goals and one game to go.
The future of Highlands, however, has been up in the air after news emerged that club’s top-flight status has been sold to Tim Sukazi, owner of TS Galaxy in the GladAfrica Championship, though pending confirmation from the Premier Soccer League.
If the sale goes through the club is likely to relocate to Mpumalanga and be renamed TS Galaxy, but the sale of the club is said to exclude the club’s biggest stars in midfielder Mvala and striker Shalulile.
The club will thus look to sell the duo on the completion of the sale and according to SoccerLaduma they have agreed a deal in principle with Sundowns.
An official announcement about the two players is expected to be made once the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign is concluded next week. Sundowns have already completed deals with the likes of Gift Motupa, Haashim Domingo and Ricardo Goss with that announcement also expected at the end of the season.
